Bescom wins award for setting up EV charging infrastructure in Karnataka – JMD

Short : Bescom has received an award for its efforts in establishing EV charging infrastructure across Karnataka. This recognition highlights Bescom’s role in supporting Karnataka’s transition to electric mobility by enhancing EV accessibility and encouraging sustainable transportation solutions in the state.

Detail : Bengaluru: Providing robust electric vehicle charging infrastructure across Karnataka, Bescom was awarded Charge India 2024 excellence award at the national level.

So far, the power utility has facilitated setting up a network of 5,765 charging stations across Karnataka, making it the top state in India, followed by Maharashtra with 3,728 stations.

Bengaluru alone has 4,462 charging stations, contributing to 85% of Karnataka’s total network. While Bescom installed 195 stations, other Escoms set up 70. This apart, govt departments set up 21 stations; private companies installed 5,479 stations.

Energy minister KJ George said, “Karnataka leads the way in providing affordable EV-charging options without reliance on the private sector, and this achievement is a testament to our govt’s commitment to clean and sustainable energy.”
